Cases for tablets and smartphones are a growing market, but few agree on its size, since more than half the sales come from the unorganised market. Mohit Anand, managing director, Indian subcontinent, Belkin, says the market size for smartphone cases is around $30 million (Rs 164.9 crore) and tablet cases around $20 million. An industry expert puts the combined market at $80 million, while a distributor pegs it at $100 million. Chandresh Shah, owner of Access, a shop selling laptop and mobile accessories in Mumbai’s Palladium Mall, says cases are the fastest moving items on his shelves.
