EdTech has transformed the conventions of education throughout the world, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. An Education Wizard

Way back in 2015, when most Indian cities were not even familiar with the concept of EdTech, Karandeep was confident about the massive role that technology will play in the coming years. Where students and teachers are gradually getting accustomed to concepts of Google classrooms, online sessions and recorded video lectures, Karandeep has been using these resources persistently for the last decade. Having studied and worked across the globe, he was quick to grasp the critical role technology could play in pedagogy and teaching methodologies.

This is why, instead of relying solely on physical classrooms to impart education, Karandeep Singh vehemently explored digital methods of teaching based on a blended learning approach much before it was adopted in the mainstream. The institutes he headed witnessed a seamless transition from physical to digital modes of learning, including students, staff and authorities. This is why when the pandemic hit, these institutes did not have to turn their operations upside down – they merely needed to shift from the blended to a full-fledged digital setup.

Crafting New Avenues

Understanding the pulse of EdTech in India also paved the way for Karandeep Singh to create new pathways for developing sustainable business models for the ventures he gradually founded. With the experience of working formerly as the Business Head of an EdTech startup, he had sufficient foresight to establish a teacher training program on a global level aimed at upscaling the teaching fraternity.

The movement has not only helped these teachers secure jobs in times of insecurity and crisis but also led them on to the path of teacherpreneurship. Many of them work independently today, running their own classroom, while others are freelancing with major international organisations. Besides equipping them with the right dexterity of using technology, the program has also made them more confident and aware of updates in the world of EdTech.

Apart from mainstream academics, Karandeep Singh also strongly advocates liberal arts. He believes firmly in the interconnection between the creative arts and academic performance, based on his experience studying Sound Engineering at the prestigious Oxford University. This is the basis of his startup called ROAR – Rafa Online Academy of Rhythm. The venture attempts to redefine the scope of music and fine arts in India, analytically linking them with employable success stories.
