Real estate and housing sector seems to be out of the woods after a long dud period. The property market is back on the radar as homebuyers are on a shopping spree thanks to limited supply, ample liquidity and rock bottom interest rates. How will the housing and real estate sector fare for investors after a long downcycle from 2013 to 2020?

S. Naren, ED & CIO, ICICI Prudential AMC, shares his thoughts on who should invest and who needs to stay away from this sector. He believes housing and real estate is a structural long term sector given the demographics of India.

"While we think there is a long term potential in housing, real estate and the allied sectors, there will be volatility in the sector over 12 to 18 months. Anyone who wants to invest in equities may invest in this sector," says Naren.

He elaborates the risk of investing in the real estate and housing sector as well.
