Careers360, an online career counselling and education services firm, has ventured into the coaching space, with the launch of a preparatory course for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for engineering.
According to Careers360, India has more than 70% students that don’t go through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) coaching classes and at least half of them are not being coached for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). Used by over 15 Million students every month, Careers360 hopes to be a catalyst in disrupting the coaching industry with better results at a fraction of the cost.
Careers360 has launched he 'JEE Knockout Crash Course’, while other courses for Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT), NEET and All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT ) are in the pipeline. These are expected to be launched by the end of March. Starting with just four courses this academic season, Careers360 plans to scale it up to at least 40 by the next year.

“When I worked on it, I realised that students are not prepared for entrance exams. What are we trying to do is actually filling that gap. In last one month, we’ll give you a knockout where you at least have a familiarity of concepts and know the pattern of the question paper,” said Maheshwer Peri, Founder, Careers360.
For Maheshwar, it is all about affordability, access to good teachers and social equity. He hopes to reduce the pressure on children and wants them to learn while they are still in school. “When you’re 0% prepared for exam, can I make it reach 60%. Cost of coaching outprices most of the aspirant population hence drastic reduction in cost is the only way to bring equity,” he added.
