Mahatma Gandhi’s march against the British salt tax is history, as is domestic salt shortage. The industry has grown 10 times in as many years, and is today a significant exporter to Malaysia and Japan. With an abundance of sea water, which ensures an inexhaustible supply of marine salt, Gandhi’s state of Gujarat is the largest supplier.
