Income tax filing to penalties and appeals fully faceless: CBDT Chief
Central Board of Direct Taxation (CBDT) Chairman Nitin Gupta says the processes of the income tax department are not causing any harassment to taxpayers as 95% of the processes are now digital.
“We are communicating with the taxpayers via the e-filing portal. Processing is fully digital, and scrutiny assessment or audit is also completely faceless. Penalties and appeals too are faceless. Some forms may not be digital, but we are trying to cover all the forms and the entire process in digital mode,” Gupta says.
