Despite the uncertain and challenging business environment over the past year, Pallavi Shroff’s law firm was busy overlooking major deals in the internet economy space. Her firm represented Byju’s—the most valued Indian unicorn—in its acquisition of Aakash Educational Services Limited for $1 billion. It also represented Flipkart when the Bengaluru-based e-commerce firm raised $3.6 billion from new and existing investors. There was also Thyrocare’s sale of 66.11% stake to healthcare startup PharmEasy for $680 million. Overall, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. facilitated over 300 deals aggregating to about $75 billion in the period between June 2020 and July 2021.
