Rajasthan Royals CEO Raghu Iyer on food, rest, and play while on the road
Raghu Iyer, CEO of cricket IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, has been with the franchise since its inception in 2007. Iyer, 42, joined as marketing officer and rose to CEO two years ago. A master’s from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, he has played a major role in building the Rajasthan Royals brand. He says it’s the only IPL team besides Kolkata Knight Riders that’s making profits. This was because he ensured that the team did not go berserk on player spends. Iyer believes sports teams can be a profitable business if costs are kept on a leash. Apart from being on the road within the country during the IPL season, he frequents London, the team’s headquarters, and also visits other cricketing nations, like South Africa.
