New entry-level variant offers 520 km range, advanced tech and safety at lower price point in premium electric SUV lineup

BYD India has launched the Sealion 7 Dynamic at an introductory price of ₹41.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the least expensive variant in the Sealion 7 lineup. The new variant joins the existing Premium and Performance variants, priced at ₹49.40 lakh and ₹54.90 lakh, respectively. The Dynamic therefore gives customers a lower entry point into BYD’s premium electric SUV range.
The Sealion 7 Dynamic is powered by a 71.8 kWh Blade Battery and offers a claimed range of 520 km under the NEDC testing cycle. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The variant is positioned around a balance of performance, technology and everyday usability, with BYD describing it as a “new expression of Sealion 7”.
With the addition of the Dynamic, the Sealion 7 portfolio now comprises three variants, giving customers a choice across different performance and battery configurations. The existing Premium and Performance variants use an 82.56 kWh Blade Battery, while the Dynamic uses the smaller 71.8 kWh pack. The Dynamic is also positioned as the entry-level version of the SUV, with the lower battery capacity and performance allowing BYD to bring down the starting price.
The new variant is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and features the company’s Ocean Aesthetics-inspired design. Equipment includes BYD’s Blade Battery, Cell-to-Body technology, Intelligence Torque Adaptation Control, a panoramic glass roof and a rotating touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets a suite of safety and driver-assistance technologies.
The Sealion 7 Dynamic will be available in four colours — Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, Aurora White and Shark Grey.
Commenting on the launch, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, said, “The strategic expansion is a direct response to the tremendous success and overwhelming customer interest in the existing BYD SEALION 7 variants. With the introduction of the new Sealion 7 Dynamic, we are expanding the portfolio to cater to a more diverse customer base while offering increased options to potential buyers. As a new expression of SEALION 7, the Dynamic variant will further strengthen its position in India's premium EV segment by bringing BYD's advanced technologies, safety standards and sustainable mobility solutions within the reach of more customers.”
The Sealion 7 has been in India since 2025 and, according to BYD, more than 4,000 units are currently in operation across the country. The company is expanding the range as competition in India’s premium electric SUV market intensifies. The Sealion 7 competes with models including the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1 LWB.
The launch also comes as BYD India continues its “Celebrate Your Dreams with BYD” festive offers, rolled out from August 1. Customers buying the Sealion 7 Dynamic can avail of a complimentary 7kW home charger with installation, a 10-year roadside assistance coverage extension and an extended warranty of 10 years on the LFP low-voltage battery or 1.5 lakh km, whichever is earlier.
