Kia India has introduced the Model Year 2026 (MY26) update of its compact SUV Sonet, expanding the model’s automatic transmission options across diesel and turbo-petrol powertrains. The company has introduced a diesel 6-speed automatic variant starting at ₹9.77 lakh (ex-showroom) and a turbo-petrol 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) starting at ₹9.89 lakh.
The new pricing places both transmission options below the ₹10 lakh mark, making the Sonet the first SUV in its segment to offer both diesel 6AT and petrol 7DCT at this price point. The MY26 update also expands the availability of automatic variants across multiple trims.
The updated line-up introduces a 1.5-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission across four trims — HTE(O), HTK(O), HTK+, and HTK+(O). Prices for these variants range from ₹9.77 lakh to ₹11.56 lakh (ex-showroom).
Kia has also introduced new turbo-petrol automatic options with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. These variants are available in HTK(O) and HTK+(O) trims and are priced at ₹9.89 lakh and ₹10.83 lakh respectively (ex-showroom). According to the company, the update expands the number of automatic options available within the Sonet line-up.
The diesel automatic variants include:
• HTE(O) 6AT – ₹9.77 lakh
• HTK(O) 6AT – ₹10.72 lakh
• HTK+ 6AT – ₹11.08 lakh
• HTK+(O) 6AT – ₹11.56 lakh
The turbo-petrol automatic variants include:
• HTK(O) 7DCT – ₹9.89 lakh
• HTK+(O) 7DCT – ₹10.83 lakh
All prices are ex-showroom.
Along with the expanded transmission options, Kia has introduced a new exterior colour called Magma Red for the Sonet.
The SUV continues to be offered with multiple powertrain options and trims. The vehicle includes 15 standard safety features, 10 Level-1 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features, and more than 70 connected car features.
The Sonet was launched in India in 2020 and is positioned in the compact SUV segment. According to Kia India, the model has crossed the 500,000 sales milestone since its launch and remains one of the company’s key models in the country.
