Mahindra’s first mainstream CNG SUV combines turbocharged performance, claimed 24.7 km/kg efficiency and a twin-cylinder setup that preserves 270 litres of boot space, with prices starting at ₹9.99 lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO ZNG, its first mainstream CNG passenger vehicle, in India at a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV comes with a turbocharged engine, CNG-petrol dual-fuel capability and a claimed 24.7 km/kg certified efficiency.
The XUV 3XO ZNG is powered by a 1.2-litre mStallion TCMPFi turbocharged engine that produces 82 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque in both CNG and petrol modes. Mahindra claims the 200 Nm output is the best-in-class among CNG passenger vehicles in India, with peak torque available between 1,500 rpm and 3,500 rpm. In CNG mode, the SUV can accelerate from 0-60 km/h in 4.9 seconds and from 0-100 km/h in 11.8 seconds.
The XUV 3XO ZNG uses a first-in-segment 10-bar CNG injection pressure system, which Mahindra says is designed to provide responsive performance and efficiency. The vehicle can automatically switch to petrol when CNG runs low, while an integrated gas-leak detection system can also trigger a switch to gasoline mode.
Dr. Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “The XUV 3XO ZNG comes with a clear promise: Zero Compromise. Customers today want the space, technology, safety and driving experience of an SUV, along with the lower running costs of CNG. With category-leading torque, turbocharged performance and impressive efficiency, the XUV 3XO ZNG brings together the practicality of CNG and the excitement of an SUV, setting a new benchmark for customer expectations from a CNG SUV.”
Mahindra has retained the SUV’s focus on features and practicality in the CNG version. The twin-cylinder CNG system is positioned beneath the luggage area, allowing the XUV 3XO ZNG to retain a flat loading floor and 270 litres of usable boot space. The spare wheel remains mounted underneath the body.
The SUV gets features including twin 26.03 cm screens, Skyroof, Dolby Atmos audio, black leatherette seats, a dual-tone roof and R16 alloy wheels. Even the entry-level variant gets a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen, cruise control, rear AC vents and a 60:40 split rear seat.
Safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard across variants. Mahindra says the XUV 3XO ZNG is engineered for a 5-star rating, while the existing XUV 3XO has secured a 5-star Bharat-NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection.
The XUV 3XO has crossed cumulative sales of 2.5 lakh units in under 2.5 years, according to Mahindra. The company says the model has combined design, performance, safety, technology and premium interiors to establish itself in the compact SUV segment.
The XUV 3XO ZNG is available in four variants. Prices start at ₹9.99 lakh for the MX Edge, followed by ₹10.79 lakh for the REVX Edge (O), ₹11.19 lakh for the AX5 and ₹12.27 lakh for the REVX A. All prices are ex-showroom.
Test drives begin on October 15, while bookings and deliveries will commence on October 20 across authorised dealerships and Mahindra’s online platform.
