Commodity trading gets options and tracking tools
The move expands Bajaj Broking’s digital trading offering across multiple commodity segments.
The platform has been equipped with a commodity options chain along with Greeks, which help traders assess an option’s sensitivity to changes in the underlying price, volatility and time to expiry. It also allows users to place basket orders, enabling multiple orders to be grouped and submitted together.
For order placement, customers can choose between intraday and normal product types, subject to applicable contract and margin requirements. The platform also supports Good Till Triggered (GTT) orders, which are activated when specified trigger conditions are met.
Bajaj Broking has also added commodity price alerts, allowing users to receive notifications when selected price levels are reached. Real-time market data and charts are available on the platform, allowing users to track prices and place orders from a single screen. Brokerage and statutory charges are displayed upfront, providing visibility into applicable trading costs.
“With the launch of our Commodities segment, we are broadening the range of markets accessible through Bajaj Broking while bringing together features for options analysis, order execution, and price monitoring. Our focus remains on building a technology-led trading platform that combines market access with useful functionality and greater visibility into trading costs,” said Anurag Misra, Chief Technology Officer, Bajaj Broking.
Bajaj Broking’s move comes as other online brokerages expand their commodity offerings alongside equities and derivatives. Groww launched commodity trading for all users last year and subsequently added NSE commodity derivatives and electricity futures. Zerodha, Angel One and Upstox also offer commodity trading across platforms, covering contracts linked to metals, energy, and other commodities.
The expansion comes as brokerages look to offer customers access to a wider range of asset classes through a single trading platform. Groww’s commodity business has grown rapidly, with the brokerage becoming the largest commodities derivatives player by notional average daily turnover in Q1 FY27, according to company disclosures.
