Maruti Suzuki , Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor India are gearing up for a festive sales surge this Dhanteras, riding the wave of strong consumer demand driven by GST reforms and favorable market conditions. While Maruti aims to achieve a record 51,000 vehicle deliveries, Hyundai expects to deliver around 14,000 units, reflecting robust momentum this Diwali season. Tata Motors is also anticipating strong vehicle deliveries during the Dhanteras and Diwali period, aiming to deliver over 25,000 vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker by sales, is set to achieve its highest-ever vehicle deliveries on Dhanteras this year, according to a top company official.

“This time Dhanteras is spread over two days, with the auspicious period starting from 12:18 pm today and continuing till 1:51 pm tomorrow (Sunday). As it falls on a Saturday, some customers hesitate to buy metal, but we have already completed 38,500 deliveries and expect to reach 41,000 by the end of today,” said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India.

He is anticipating another 10,000 deliveries on Sunday which would bring the total to around 51,000, the highest-ever on Dhanteras.

He added that showrooms will remain open late tonight to serve customers. “Last year, we did approximately 41,500 deliveries. This year, we expect to cross the 50,000 mark, almost 10,000 more than last year,” he noted.

According to Banerjee, many customers are showing heightened enthusiasm this year following the GST 2.0 price reductions. “Traction is very good. Every day, we are seeing around 14,000 bookings. Since announcing the reduced prices, we have received 4.5 lakh bookings, of which 1 lakh is for small cars. Retail bookings total 3.25 lakh. This has broken all records for Maruti Suzuki, with growth of more than 50% over the same period last year. Still, a few more days are left,” he said.

He further added that production is running through Dhanteras and will continue on Sunday to meet customer demand, although the company is running short of vehicles across models.

Besides, Maruti Suzuki achieved record-breaking sales during the Navratri festival, delivering around 2 lakh vehicles this season.

In September 2025, Maruti sold a total of 189,665 units, marking a 3% increase year-over-year compared to the 184,727 units sold in September 2024. This total includes domestic sales, sales to other OEMs, and exports. The auto major’s exports hit all-time monthly high with 42,204 units, a 52.2% increase year-over-year.

Hyundai anticipates 20% rise in Dhanteras deliveries

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor India is expecting to deliver around 14,000 units this Dhanteras, up 20% from last year.

“This year, Dhanteras deliveries are spread across multiple days because of it being a Saturday. We are witnessing strong customer demand, with deliveries expected to be around 14,000 units approximately 20% higher than last year” said Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director & COO of HMIL.

The company is leveraging the extended festive period to serve customers efficiently, reflecting continued strong demand for its vehicles, he added.

Tata Motors aims to deliver 25,000 vehicles

Amit Kamat, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said the company expects to deliver over 25,000 vehicles this festive season. “This year, Dhanteras and Diwali deliveries are spread over two to three days in line with the auspicious mahurats. Overall demand has been robust, and the GST 2.0 reform has further provided positive momentum. We expect to deliver over 25,000 vehicles during this period,” said Kamat.
