As Edrington continues to invest in its portfolio of ultra-premium spirits -- led by The Macallan, the world’s most valuable single malt Scotch whisky -- Ross will lead the company’s India operations and drive growth for The Macallan and Highland Park, as demand for ultra-premium spirits gathers momentum across the country. Based at Edrington’s India headquarters in Gurgaon, he will work closely with partners and stakeholders to build a strong, locally anchored business.

His appointment follows last year’s UK-India trade agreement, which will halve tariffs on Scotch whisky imports into India. The move reflects Edrington’s confidence in India’s evolving consumer landscape, marked by a growing appreciation for craftsmanship, provenance and elevated brand experiences.

Ross brings more than three decades of leadership experience with Edrington, having held senior roles across several key international markets. From opening the company’s first international office in Hong Kong to shaping the success of Edrington’s Americas business, his career has been defined by pioneering growth. Most recently, as Chief Executive Officer of Edrington Americas, he accelerated the growth of The Macallan in the United States, the world’s largest premium spirits market.

“Paul brings extensive experience of growing Edrington’s brands across Asia Pacific, the UK and the Americas. With India now established as the world’s largest Scotch whisky market by volume, Paul and the Edrington India team are well placed to unlock the significant potential for The Macallan and Highland Park, building a strong foundation for long-term growth,” said Martin Murdoch, Edrington’s Managing Director for Middle East, Africa and India.

As Chief Operating Officer, India, Ross will focus on strengthening local capabilities, embedding Edrington’s culture and values, and building a resilient platform for responsible, long-term growth. He will also serve as a senior ambassador for The Macallan and Highland Park in India, engaging with industry partners, customers and key stakeholders.

“India represents one of the most exciting premium spirits opportunities globally, driven by a new generation of consumers seeking authenticity, quality and meaningful brand experiences. I am excited to be on the ground in India and look forward to working closely with the team to build a strong and sustainable business rooted in integrity, craftsmanship and exceptional single malt Scotch whisky,” said Ross.
