Hindustan Zinc achieves record profits and revenue growth in Q2, driven by higher metal prices and production.

Hindustan Zinc reported a 142% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to ₹6,412 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with ₹2,649 crore in the year-ago period.
Revenue from operations increased 77% year-on-year to ₹15,093 crore. EBITDA rose 108% to ₹9,285 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded to 62% from 52% a year earlier.
The company said the higher revenue was driven by “higher metal prices, increased metal production, higher by-product realisation, and a stronger dollar.” The improvement in EBITDA was supported by “increased metal production, higher metal prices, lower cost of production, and a stronger dollar.”
The quarter also saw Hindustan Zinc post its highest-ever mined and refined metal production.
Mined metal production rose 5% year-on-year to 271 kilotonnes (KT), while refined metal production increased 7% to 264 KT. Silver production was up 20% at 173 tonnes.
Silver continued to play an important role in the company’s financial performance. Hindustan Zinc said silver contributed around 45% of overall profitability during the first half of FY27.
The company also saw a sharp reduction in its zinc cost of production, excluding royalty. It fell 29% year-on-year to $703 per tonne.
Hindustan Zinc attributed the lower cost to better mined grades, higher metal production, greater renewable power consumption and higher by-product realisations. The benefits were partly offset by lower domestic coal usage and higher input commodity prices.
Free cash flow before growth capital expenditure stood at ₹6,389 crore during the quarter.
Amarendu Prakash, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said, “I am honored to lead Hindustan Zinc at this pivotal stage. Our record quarterly mined metal production of 271 KT and refined metal production of 264 KT demonstrates the strength of our operations, assets and people. We remain focused on disciplined growth, AI-led innovation, and advancing our critical minerals portfolio to support India’s energy transition while delivering long-term stakeholder value.”
Amit Gupta, CFO of Hindustan Zinc, said, “Hindustan Zinc delivered the highest-ever quarterly financial performance, with EBITDA of ₹9,285 crore and net profit of ₹6,412 crore. Our industry-leading EBITDA margin of 62%, strong cash generation, and robust balance sheet underscore our focus on financial discipline and productivity. We remain committed to investing in growth, maintaining financial resilience, and creating long-term shareholder value.”
For the first half of FY27, Hindustan Zinc’s revenue from operations rose 77% year-on-year to ₹28,840 crore. EBITDA increased 108% to ₹17,359 crore, with the margin at 60%. Net profit for the first half rose 143% to ₹11,881 crore.
Mined metal production stood at 539 KT, up 3% year-on-year, while refined metal production increased 6% to 524 KT. Silver production rose 10% to 321 tonnes.
