Swiggy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Labour and Employment to bolster job creation in the gig and logistics sector. The collaboration aims to strengthen employment linkages through the National Career Service (NCS) portal, leveraging public-private partnerships to expand access to verified job opportunities.

“Over the past 11 years, we’ve had the opportunity to support the livelihoods of lakhs of delivery partners across the country and we believe many more will join us in the coming years,” said Shalabh Shrivastava, Senior Vice President, Drivers Organisation, Swiggy in a statement.

Swiggy plans to use the NCS platform to onboard a wider pool of skilled workers, with an estimated 10 to 12 lakh new jobs expected to be generated over the next few years.

“With NCS, we look forward to onboarding skilled and job-ready individuals, which will not only strengthen our platform but also open up large-scale employment opportunities for India’s youth,” Shrivastava said.

“The NCS will certainly help us scale our hiring efforts and enhance employment generation across the country,” he added.

Under the MoU, Swiggy will post verified gig and delivery job opportunities on the NCS portal and hire through it via API-based integration, enabling real-time updates and seamless application tracking. The partnership focuses on inclusive hiring—especially for youth, women, and those seeking flexible work—and aims to support structured onboarding, digital empowerment, and awareness of worker welfare schemes.

The MoU was signed Monday evening in the presence of Union labour minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Union labour minister of state Sushri Shobha Karandlaje. The agreement is part of a broader effort by the Ministry to partner with private agencies and bridge the demand-supply gap in the labour market. More collaborations are expected to follow, the minister shared. Eternal, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, has not yet responded to queries on its potential participation.

Mandaviya highlighted the growing role of the National Career Service (NCS) portal in workforce mobilisation, noting its extensive reach with over 1.25 crore active job seekers and 40 lakh registered employers as of January 31, 2025. “This partnership with Swiggy will further extend the portal’s reach into the fast-growing gig and platform economy, enabling access to flexible and location-based opportunities for millions of youth,” he added.

He emphasised that the NCS portal would not only streamline hiring but also serve as a unified platform for skill development and employment.

Pyng is Swiggy’s AI-powered app for providing users with verified professionals across over 100 service categories. However, the spokesperson clarified that Pyng is unrelated to the MoU with the Ministry.
