Tata Power Renewables adds 88,397 rooftop solar installations in Q2, capacity rises 15% YoY

On a cumulative basis, Uttar Pradesh has contributed 116,254 installations with 528 MWp of capacity, followed by Maharashtra with 73,578 installations and 1,041 MWp of capacity.

With the latest additions, Tata Power Solaroof’s cumulative rooftop solar installations have crossed 575,000.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) added 88,397 rooftop solar installations in the July-September quarter (Q2 FY27), marking a 33% year-on-year increase from 66,447 installations in the year-ago period.

The company’s rooftop solar capacity additions stood at 426 MWp during the quarter, up 15% from 369 MWp in Q2 FY26, Tata Power said on October 6. 

In the first half of FY27, Tata Power Solaroof, the rooftop solar division of TPREL, added more than 168,530 installations, a 50% increase from 112,729 installations in the corresponding period of FY26. The installations translated into 801 MWp of capacity, up 25% from 639 MWp a year earlier.

Cumulative installations cross 575,000 

With the latest additions, Tata Power Solaroof’s cumulative rooftop solar installations have crossed 575,000, with total installed capacity exceeding 5.67 GWp across the residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) segments. 

The company said the growth reflects rising demand for rooftop solar and increasing adoption across key markets. Tata Power Solaroof has been recognised by CRISIL as India’s No. 1 rooftop solar company for 12 consecutive years. 

Uttar Pradesh emerged as the company’s largest market during the first half of FY27, with 44,014 installations aggregating around 172 MWp of capacity. Maharashtra followed with 22,165 installations and nearly 100 MWp, while Rajasthan recorded 21,275 installations contributing 99 MWp. Kerala added 15,477 installations, representing around 65 MWp of capacity.

On a cumulative basis, Uttar Pradesh has contributed 116,254 installations with 528 MWp of capacity, followed by Maharashtra with 73,578 installations and 1,041 MWp of capacity.

Kerala has recorded 69,734 installations, aggregating more than 310 MWp while Rajasthan has contributed 44,798 installations and 390 MWp of capacity. 

Tata Power said its rooftop solar business has expanded across residential, commercial and industrial segments, supported by an end-to-end offering that includes solar modules, financing options, insurance and after-sales services.

The company is also seeking to accelerate rooftop solar adoption through its Ghar Ghar Solar campaign, aligned with the government’s Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. The initiative aims to increase awareness and adoption of rooftop solar among households and support the broader shift towards renewable energy.
