Regional creators expand their global reach

Regional content is increasingly finding audiences beyond geographical and linguistic boundaries, with Indian creators using digital platforms to take local stories, music and cultural traditions to international markets.

Marathi singer and songwriter Sanju Rathod is one such example. His breakout track Gulabi Sadi crossed 500 million views on YouTube, demonstrating how regional music can reach audiences worldwide.

According to the report, 81% of media companies with a YouTube channel say the platform helps them reach new audiences globally. The growing international reach of regional content is also creating opportunities for Indian creators to monetise their work beyond domestic markets.

The expansion of creative clusters in non-metro cities is expected to play an important role in strengthening the creator economy by providing local talent with technical expertise and opportunities to collaborate.
