The PM MITRA Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, will bring the entire textile industry value chain together in one location, ensuring a faster and more seamless journey from the factory floor to global marketplaces.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that the government is working with commitment to a 5F vision for the textile industry—from farm to fibre, fibre to factory, factory to fashion, and fashion to foreign—which will ensure a faster, more seamless journey from the factory floor to global marketplaces.
The PM, who is in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, to lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development works, noted that about 1,300 acres have been earmarked for the PM MITRA Park in Dhar, which will streamline access to cotton and silk, materials critical for weavers, make quality checks simpler, and offer better market connectivity. The process of spinning, designing, processing, and exporting will happen within the same facility, according to the PM, which would make the entire value chain of the textile industry available at one location.
80 industrial units have already been allotted in the PM MITRA Park, PM Modi informed, with the development of infrastructure and construction of factories happening simultaneously. The park, once completed, will generate three lakh new employment opportunities and will significantly reduce logistical and manufacturing costs, thereby making Indian products competitively priced in the global market. The PM also informed that the government is planning to set up six more PM MITRA Parks across the country.
As part of realising the 5F vision for the textile industry, PM Modi threw open the PM MITRA Park in Dhar. The facility will eventually be spread over 2,150 acres, and it will be equipped with world-class facilities, which include a Common Effluent Treatment Plant, a solar power plant, and modern roads, among others, making it an ideal industrial township.
The facility is also touted to provide a fillip to the cotton growers in the region by offering better value for their produce. Various textile companies have pledged investment proposals worth over ₹23,140 crore, which will also lay the path for new industries and will provide large-scale employment.
In his address, the PM also acknowledged the rich tapestry of Maheshwari textiles in Madhya Pradesh, noting that Devi Ahilyabai Holkar had given the Maheshwari sarees a new paradigm. Recounting the recent celebration of her 300th birth anniversary, the PM dedicated the PM MITRA Park in Dhar to her legacy and patronage.
