Think School: India’s New Age Digital School

Think School, the digital school that teaches future skills that are required to make an individual employable, that ironically are not taught in Universities and Colleges.

Founded in 2019 by two young engineers, Parsh Kothari and Ganeshprasad, the 3 year old startup has chosen to solve India’s employment problem by fixing the broken Education System of India that fails to equip its students with the necessary skills that are required in the professional world.

They believe that the education system has struggled to evolve with the changing demands of the job market and is still stuck in the Industrial revolution era of the colonial British Rule.

When asked to explain, Parsh, CEO and Co-founder of Think School, answered, “British Politician Thomas Macaulay is the father of the current education system whose goal was to destroy the then existing Indian Gurukul system with a system that would create 9-5 workers for the Industrial Revolution.” Ganesh, COO and Co-founder of Think School added, “Macaulay’s main goal was to train workers in such a way that they follow the orders given to them without asking any questions.”

The British left the country more than 70 years ago and yet the system continues to function the same way. Students like workers are studying 9 to 5, there is a bell to notify change of lectures, there is a short lunch break, students are afraid of punishments and hence do not ask questions, the list goes on.

The dynamic duo, Ganeshprasad and Parsh have pledged to change the way Indian students learn. If not the Gurukul way, the students could at least decide when and where they want to study. That is exactly why Think School is building a library of pre-recorded courses that focuses on teaching future skills that actually matter, rather than the conventional academics taught in most institutions that forces its students to mug up the syllabus and vomit it on a sheet of paper on a designated date and time.

These future skills would include Business analysis, Storytelling, Design Thinking, Resume Making, Indian History, Ayurveda, Communication, Health and wellbeing, networking using social media and much more.

So far, Think School has garnered strong trust among a growing community of over 15 Lakh subscribers on their YouTube channel. With over 1.5 crore views per month on their YouTube channel, their audience are loving the way they teach business and geopolitics. In the times where young individuals love to spend their time watching movies on Netflix and Hotstar, an Indian educational YouTube channel which has majority of its audience between the ages of 18-30 getting 29.4 Crore Impressions per month consistently is truly a noteworthy feat.

They have also launched 3 online courses on their platform www.thethinkschool.com which have been taken up by more than 5000 students, and they are just getting started. They plan to have a library of 15-20 skill based course that are taught practically and the learnings of which can be instantly applicable in the real world.

According to Parsh, CEO of Think School, the startup does not intend to raise money and wants to remain bootstrapped so that they have autonomous control on everything they do rather than running in the race of ROI and valuations. Ganesh, COO of Think School, echoed the same when we asked him about the secret behind the hitting 1 million subscribers in just 11 months on Youtube, he said, "The secret sauce is delivering quality content consistently rather than focusing on quantity, being true to the vision of our company, which can only be done if I and Parsh have full control over the company"

Think School has been profitable from day 1 and both Ganesh & Parsh plan to continue to use the power of technology, quality content and social media to put a dent in the Indian Education system. Keep an eye on Think School, www.thethinkschool.com, because it has the potential to fundamentally shift how Indians learn.
