Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said the central government is closely tracking the big expenditure done by the non-salaried classes for the purpose of widening the tax base. She also mentioned during a public interaction on Sunday there is no proposal to bring agriculture income under the tax fold as of now. "People who are not on salary will also have to come forward. We are doing campaigns to explain this to them. The government is closely tracking every big expenditure through measures like TDS," Sitharaman said.
