Krafton India CEO Sean (Hyunil) Sohn, on the line sidelines of the India Gaming Show 2025 in New Delhi, said the country ranks among Krafton’s top five global markets in terms of revenue and user base. He says over the past four years, the South Korean company's India unit has seen "phenomenal" growth, and that the next three to five years will be crucial for India to cement its place as a leading gaming market.

Sohn also said that while India’s gaming market is expanding, it still lags behind China, the US, and even South Korea, with a current estimated value of esports between $1 billion and $2 billion, which is only a fraction of these established markets.

Sohn said the role of AI in game development is crucial. He said Krafton has integrated AI-driven technology in its offerings, with two of its games selected for NVIDIA’s AI-powered game development program. He said AI is a major force shaping the future of gaming, alongside potential breakthroughs in VR and XR.

Additionally, he said there's a need for stronger educational backing to support India's gaming industry. Talking about Krafton’s plans to expand its local presence, Sohn says the gaming company will expand R&D capabilities in India, which will help it publish games not just for the Indian market but for South Asia and the MENA region as well.
