Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), during the launch of eVITARA, the company's first battery electric vehicle at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in Delhi today, said the company has invested more than Rs 2,100 crore for manufacturing EVs in India, which includes a dedicated EV product line.

"While we have packed excellence in the product, our vision goes beyond. Our ultimate goal is to create electric eco-solutions for the customers," Takeuchi says during the launch of eVITARA.

"We call it E for Me. E for Me will help customers enjoy a new EV lifestyle that is comfortable, pleasant and aspirational. For this, we will adopt a three-pronged strategy. First, we will offer smart home chargers and installation support to ensure our customers' convenience. Second, we will leverage our vast network to provide fast-charging support to our customers in the top 100 cities in the first phase and then expand further. The idea is that within these cities, every 5 to 10 kilometres, a customer finds a charging point by Maruti Suzuki."

The company is also preparing over 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops covering over 1,000 cities. "These workshops will have specially trained manpower and special equipment to provide all EV-related support, including charging. And the third, we will introduce a dedicated mobile app to simplify the EV charging journey of our customers," says the MSI MD.
