German tech major SAP SE’s R&D subsidiary, SAP Labs India, has expanded its footprint with the setting up of a second campus in Bengaluru. The new campus, located close to the airport, is nearly twice the size of the existing campus in Bengaluru and has a capacity of accommodating 15000 employees. The new campus will also host India’s second SAP Experience Centre—where customers can see enterprise solutions come to life in real-world scenarios in an interactive way, and ‘S.Market’—an AI-powered retail solution showcase zone for the clients.

Stating that the new campus is a testament to the continued belief of the company in India’s potential to lead the world in breakthrough innovation, Sindhu Gangadharan, Managing Director, SAP Labs India and Head of Customer Innovation Services SAP, said, “This campus is where customer-centric innovation meets employee well-being, where sustainability meets scale, and where SAP’s commitment to India’s growth story deepens—not just for today, but for decades to come”.  

Currently, SAP Labs India has over 17,300 employees and has presence across five cities—Bengaluru, Gurugram, Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The company also account for the largest headcount outside of its headquarters in Waldorf, Germany. The new campus will co-exist along with the old campus at Whitefield.

As an important innovation hub for the company, Thomas Saueressig, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE for Customer Services and Delivery, sees a lot more work on AI-first innovations happening out of the India labs. “It is a global innovation hub that will help our customers move from insight to action with enterprise-grade AI, data, and applications created right here in India,” Saueressig said.  

The company has also announced an AI Career Accelerator Programme aimed at digital skilling. With an investment of €100,000, the program is aimed at equipping over 400 students from underserved communities with hands-on training for AI-enabled roles. It has also partnered with   IIT Madras to work on AI-driven brain research using public data to predict health issues and recommend treatment options. The collaboration is led by IITM Brain Centre, working along with SAP’s enterprise tech experts on Data Flywheel in HealthTech.
