Bajaj Auto reported a 35% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit to ₹3,354 crore in the second quarter of FY27, while revenue from operations rose 34% to ₹20,003 crore. The homegrown automaker's Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 37% to ₹4,172 crore from ₹3,052 crore a year earlier. The EBITDA margin expanded 40 basis points to 20.9%, despite input-cost inflation and operating volatility.

The Rajiv Bajaj-led firm attributed its performance to a richer sales mix, favourable currency realisation, operating leverage and cost controls, alongside pricing actions to offset part of the input-cost pressure.

Exports and electric portfolio drive growth

Total vehicle sales increased 20% to 15.49 lakh units during the quarter, compared with 12.94 lakh units in the year-ago period. Exports rose 41% to 7.79 lakh units, while domestic volumes grew 4% to 7.70 lakh units.

Export momentum was particularly strong in Africa, where billing nearly doubled year-on-year, according to the company. Latin America also recorded its best-ever sales, while commercial vehicle exports exceeded 1 lakh units.

Domestic revenue grew 30% year-on-year to a quarterly record, with electric vehicles contributing significantly. Bajaj Auto’s domestic electric portfolio approached 2 lakh units, compared with 82,000 units in Q2 FY26, and accounted for around one-third of domestic revenue. The company said supply constraints continued to limit its ability to meet demand.

Chetak, KTM and Triumph post milestones

The Chetak electric scooter business recorded its biggest-ever quarter, with volumes more than doubling year-on-year and revenue crossing ₹2,000 crore. Bajaj Auto said production was being ramped up to address supply shortages.

Domestic revenue from the KTM and Triumph motorcycle businesses rose 45%, with combined volumes exceeding 40,000 units. The commercial vehicle business also recorded quarterly highs in revenue and volumes, exceeding 1.6 lakh units, supported by its electric portfolio. Bajaj Auto maintained its leading position in the L5 electric three-wheeler segment, with volumes and revenue more than doubling year-on-year.

First-half profit climbs 38%

For the first half of FY27, revenue increased 35% to ₹37,247 crore, while net profit rose 38% to ₹6,337 crore. EBITDA grew 40% to ₹7,768 crore, with margins at 20.9%, up 70 basis points from 20.1% in the year-ago period.

Free cash flow reached nearly ₹4,000 crore in the September quarter, and the company reported surplus funds of around ₹15,500 crore after capital expenditure, growth investments and approximately ₹10,000 crore returned to shareholders through dividends and a buyback.
