Maserati has launched the GT2 Stradale in India at ₹5.72 crore (ex-showroom), bringing its road-legal, track-focused supercar to the country as part of the Italian marque’s latest model offensive. The GT2 Stradale made its India debut alongside the updated Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio today.

Based on the Maserati MC20 and inspired by the GT2 race car, the GT2 Stradale is positioned as a more hardcore alternative to the standard MC20. Maserati has focused on reducing weight and increasing aerodynamic performance, while retaining the road-going character of the MC20.

The supercar is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine that produces 640hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The GT2 Stradale can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 2.8 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 324 kmph.

Lighter, more powerful than the MC20

Maserati has shaved around 60kg from the MC20, bringing the GT2 Stradale’s kerb weight down to 1,365kg. The engine also gets a 10hp increase over the MC20, which produces 630hp in its current form.

The car’s aerodynamic package is one of its biggest departures from the MC20. It gets a prominent front splitter, larger air intakes, a race-inspired rear diffuser and a large rear wing. Maserati claims the aerodynamic package generates up to 500kg of downforce at 280 kmph, compared with 145kg for the MC20 at the same speed.

The GT2 Stradale also borrows hardware from Maserati’s GT2 race car, including its suspension set-up, steering calibration and braking system. The car gets a more track-focused anti-lock braking system, while optional performance packages add Michelin semi-slick tyres, an electronic limited-slip differential and four-point seatbelts.

Maserati has also introduced a Corsa Evo driving mode. It works as a four-level traction-control system and is available with the optional performance packages.

With the ₹5.72-crore price now announced, the GT2 Stradale becomes one of the most expensive models in Maserati’s India line-up, sitting above the brand’s regular MC20 range and targeting buyers looking for a substantially more track-focused interpretation of Maserati’s mid-engined supercar.
