Mercedes-Benz India posted its strongest-ever quarterly and nine-month sales performance in the country, driven by sustained demand across its luxury portfolio and growing traction for electric vehicles.
The luxury carmaker sold 15,190 vehicles in India during January-September 2026, up around 8% from 14,132 units in the same period last year. The performance marks the company’s best-ever nine-month sales in the Indian market.
Mercedes-Benz also recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales, delivering 5,422 vehicles between July and September, up 6% from 5,119 units in the year-ago quarter. Sales in the third quarter were also 17% higher than the 5,119-unit figure recorded in the second quarter of 2026, aided by festive demand and the company’s ‘Dream Days’ campaign, which introduced new financing options for customers.
Top-end luxury drives premiumisation
Mercedes-Benz’s Top-End Luxury segment continued to see strong demand, accounting for more than 25% of the company’s sales during January-September and growing 13% year-on-year.
The GLS, S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG G 63 remained key contributors to the segment, reflecting growing demand among Indian luxury buyers for premium and highly personalised vehicles. The extra-long-wheelbase V-Class also gained traction among customers using luxury vehicles for long-distance intercity and airport travel.
The company’s bespoke MANUFAKTUR personalisation programme accounted for around 75% of Top-End Luxury vehicle sales during the period. The programme offers customers customised materials, design elements and craftsmanship.
The AMG G 63 also recorded its highest-ever monthly sales despite a long waiting period, highlighting continued demand for the high-performance SUV.
Core segment remains the biggest growth engine
The Core Luxury segment accounted for around 60% of Mercedes-Benz India’s total sales in the first nine months of 2026, making it the company’s largest contributor.
The C-Class, Long Wheelbase E-Class, GLC and GLE continued to drive demand, with all four models recording strong monthly sales during the year. The Long Wheelbase E-Class retained its position as the best-selling luxury car in India, while the C-Class, GLC and GLE continued to support the company’s core portfolio.
Mercedes-Benz said the performance of the segment reflected sustained customer demand and loyalty, while reinforcing its strategy of pursuing value-led growth rather than focusing solely on volumes.
The Entry Luxury segment, comprising the GLA SUV and CLA BEV, accounted for around 15% of total sales and grew 4% during January-September. The company attributed the performance to the feature-rich positioning of the two models, particularly among younger luxury buyers.
EV demand gains momentum
Mercedes-Benz’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio grew 16% during the first nine months of 2026, despite limited vehicle availability.
The CLA BEV has emerged as a key driver of the company’s electric vehicle momentum, with more than 1,000 confirmed orders. Deliveries have been extended until March 2027, reflecting strong demand for the model, particularly among younger luxury customers.
The company said the response to the CLA BEV points to a growing preference for technology-led, software-defined and sustainable luxury mobility in India.
Other electric models, including the EQS SUV, EQS Maybach SUV and G580, also continued to attract demand from high-end customers.
“India is at the cusp of an unprecedented luxury transformation, and as Mercedes-Benz’s global product fireworks continues, Indian customers will highly benefit from this intense product offensive. While upcoming new products like the GLC BEV have already created high anticipation in the market, deliveries of the much-awaited electrified S-Class will begin this month, strengthening Mercedes-Benz’s unmatched luxury positioning as the ‘most desirable luxury brand’ for discerning luxury dwellers,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
The company said its record performance was supported by product launches, an upgraded luxury retail network, and differentiated customer experiences, as it continues to focus on value-led growth and customer-centricity.
