Mercedes-Maybach S 580e launched at ₹3.35 crore with 98-km EV range in India

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e 4MATIC at ₹3.35 crore (ex-showroom), marking the luxury carmaker’s first plug-in hybrid model under the Maybach brand in India. The flagship limousine will be available in a limited allocation of 30 units, as Mercedes-Benz expands its top-end portfolio with electrified powertrain options.
The S 580e combines the luxury and craftsmanship associated with the Maybach nameplate with a 3.0-litre petrol plug-in hybrid powertrain and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The combustion engine produces 443 hp and 560 Nm, while the electric motor generates 160 hp and 480 Nm. Combined system output stands at 585 hp and 750 Nm, with power delivered through a 9G-TRONIC transmission. The limousine accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
98-km electric range, 60 kW DC charging
The luxury limousine gets a 22-kWh usable battery and offers a WLTP-certified electric range of up to 98 km. The vehicle can travel at speeds of up to 140 km/h in electric mode, while its plug-in hybrid powertrain provides the flexibility of an internal combustion engine for longer journeys.
Charging is supported at up to 11 kW on AC and 60 kW on DC. Mercedes-Benz India will provide a complimentary home charging solution with every vehicle, while customers will also have access to compatible public charging infrastructure through MB.CHARGE.
The India-spec S 580e is available exclusively in a four-seat First-Class configuration, featuring individual executive rear seats, a full-length business console, wireless charging and temperature-controlled cup holders. Its Burmester 4D surround-sound system comprises 31 speakers, eight exciters and 1,610 watts of output.
Luxury technology meets electrification
Safety and driver-assistance features include PRE-SAFE technology, 15 airbags and Level 2 ADAS functionality. The vehicle also gets MB.OS, MBUX Superscreen, a 3D driver display, augmented-reality navigation, cloud-based AIRMATIC suspension and rear-axle steering.

Iyer said the company is seeing rising demand for plug-in hybrids among its top-end customers, adding that the S 580e brings together Maybach’s handcrafted luxury and exclusivity with the flexibility of plug-in hybrid technology. He also highlighted Mercedes-Benz India’s portfolio spanning ICE, BEV and PHEV models as a way of offering customers different luxury mobility options.
The S 580e has a WLTP-certified weighted combined fuel efficiency of 34.48 kmpl, adding an efficiency-focused dimension to the flagship luxury limousine.
