Tata Power and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM) have recorded more than 70,000 charging sessions across their 10 co-branded Tata Power x TATA.ev Mega Charger hubs, marking a fresh expansion of India's fast-charging infrastructure. The network has clocked over 85,000 charging hours, supported more than 75 lakh electric kilometres and helped avoid an estimated 6,690 tonnes of CO2 emissions, the companies said on Thursday.

Spread across Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, the charging network comprises 25 fast chargers and 56 charging guns, with a cumulative capacity of 2.7 MW. Individual charging hubs have capacities ranging from 180 kW to 600 kW, allowing multiple electric vehicles (EVs) to charge simultaneously.

Charging network targets key highway corridors

The deployment is concentrated along important intercity routes. Four hubs are located on the Yamuna Expressway connecting Greater Noida and Agra, while three are positioned along the Hyderabad-Vijayawada corridor. Another hub serves the Bengaluru-Tirupati route, while the Sai International facility in Sangli caters to the Pune-Bengaluru corridor. The network also includes urban charging infrastructure in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The largest facility in the network is the The Leela Mega Charger in Mumbai, located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. It has 16 charging guns, comprising six 60 kW and two 120 kW fast chargers, with a total capacity of 600 kW. The facility can charge 16 EVs simultaneously and is aimed at private EV owners, taxis, ride-hailing fleets and other high-frequency users.

Tata Power eyes 10,000 public chargers by 2030

The expansion forms part of Tata Power's broader EV charging ecosystem, which the company said includes 6,700+ public and captive charging points, 2.5 lakh+ home chargers and more than 1,200 bus charging points across over 690 cities and towns. Tata Power is targeting 10,000 public charging points and 7.5 lakh home chargers by 2030.

The TATA.ev Mega Charging Hub initiative is designed to provide high-speed charging across highway corridors and urban EV hotspots, with multiple charging bays and customer amenities. Several of the hubs can be accessed through Tata Power's EZ Charge app.

Tata Power's wider energy operations have more than 26 GW of total operational and under-construction capacity, including approximately 17.7 GW of clean and green energy capacity. Its EV charging network has also expanded to over 7,000 public charging points across 717 cities and towns, according to the release.
