TATA.ev, Tata Motors' electric vehicle brand, has crossed 1,000 live charging connectors under its MegaCharging network, covering 200 cities and 180 highway corridors across India.

The company said the network has an installed charging capacity of 40 MW and has powered 32 million electric kilometres. It described the network as India's largest original equipment manufacturer-led electric vehicle charging network.

The network is aimed at improving charging access for electric vehicle users travelling within cities and on highways, including those undertaking longer intercity journeys.

Network spans north to south, west to east

TATA.ev said its charging network stretches from Amritsar in the north to Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu in the south, a straight-line distance of around 2,570 km. Its southernmost site is approximately 85 km from Kanyakumari.

From west to east, the network extends from Dwarka in Gujarat to Murakati in Jharkhand, along the Kolkata-Jamshedpur road, covering around 1,800 km.

Among the states with the largest network footprints, Maharashtra leads with 52, followed by Karnataka with 44 and Tamil Nadu with 32, according to company statement.

Part of broader EV charging expansion

TATA.ev launched its Mega Charger initiative in February 2025 in partnership with charging point operators, including Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq and Zeon. The initial plan was to operationalise 500 Mega Chargers in the first phase, with chargers deployed along key city routes and highways.

The company had also announced a broader ambition to expand India's available EV charging infrastructure to 400,000 charging points by 2027 through partnerships with charging operators and other initiatives.

The MegaCharging network is intended to offer high-speed charging, with TATA.ev customers receiving priority access and tariff benefits at participating locations. The network is also open to electric vehicles from other manufacturers.
