Adani group-owned ACC Ltd reported a 91.7% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹93 crore for the September quarter, compared with ₹1,119 crore in the year-ago period, as revenue and operating profitability weakened.

Consolidated revenue from operations fell 5.2% to ₹5,656 crore in Q2 FY27 from ₹5,969 crore a year earlier. Operating EBITDA declined 53.3% to ₹378 crore from ₹810 crore, while the EBITDA margin narrowed to 7% from 14.1%, according to the company's earnings release.

The year-ago profit comparison was also affected by tax-related gains. ACC's Q2 FY26 results included a ₹659 crore reversal of income-tax provisions relating to earlier periods and ₹205 crore in interest on income-tax refunds.

Cement volumes decline

ACC's cement sales volume stood at 9.72 million tonnes in the September quarter, down from 10 million tonnes a year earlier. The company said its trade share increased by seven percentage points year on year to 78%, while blended cement accounted for 85% of sales, compared with 78% in Q2 FY26.

Premium products accounted for 47% of trade sales, up three percentage points from the preceding quarter. Revenue from operations in the first half of FY27 stood at ₹11,456 crore, against ₹12,246 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Ready-mix concrete volumes rose 19% year on year to 1.07 million cubic metres during the quarter.

“We delivered a resilient performance in Q2 and H1 FY27, supported by an improving sales mix and higher premium volumes,” Vinod Bahety, whole-time director and CEO of ACC, said.

“While the reported numbers are not strictly comparable due to the impact of MSA, the underlying business momentum remains encouraging, supported by our trade partners,” he added.

Adds 3.4 million tonnes of capacity

During the quarter, ACC commissioned a 2.4 million tonnes per annum greenfield cement grinding unit at Salai Banwa in Uttar Pradesh. Its subsidiary, Bulk Cement Corporation (India), also commissioned additional capacity at Kalamboli in Maharashtra. The two projects added 3.4 million tonnes of cement capacity.

ACC's share of green power consumption increased to 34.4% from 30.3% a year earlier.

The company said the proposed merger with Ambuja Cements would now proceed to the National Company Law Tribunal for final sanction, following shareholder approval. Completion is expected during FY27, subject to regulatory, statutory and tribunal approvals.
