Adani Airports’ Navi Mumbai, Guwahati terminals make Prix Versailles’ World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) has secured global recognition at the prestigious Prix Versailles architecture and design awards, with two of its airport projects — Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Terminal 2 of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati — being named among the World’s Most Beautiful Airports 2026.
The recognition highlights AAHL’s expanding presence in developing next-generation aviation infrastructure, with an emphasis on contemporary design, sustainability, and enhanced passenger experience.
Prix Versailles is an annual global architecture and design award presented at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris since 2015. The awards recognise newly launched airports and terminals that combine architectural distinction, innovation and functionality while reflecting broader shifts in airport design and passenger engagement.
Navi Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 1 was recognised for its lotus-inspired architectural design, futuristic aesthetics and integration of technology, art and operational functionality. According to the award citation, the design aims to create a world-class aviation gateway aligned with India’s ambitions as a modern global economy.
Meanwhile, Terminal 2 at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati was acknowledged for its design inspired by the ‘Bamboo Orchid’, drawing from the region’s biodiversity and incorporating sustainable and functional architectural elements.
The 2026 Prix Versailles airport list also includes airports in Guangzhou (China), Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Kandal Stueng (Cambodia), Pittsburgh (United States), and San Diego (United States).
The awards seek to promote the concept of “intelligent sustainability”, where architecture and culture extend beyond environmental considerations to shape more meaningful public spaces.
Later this year, three airports or airport terminals from the 2026 shortlist will be selected for additional World Titles under categories, including Prix Versailles, Interior and Exterior.
Meanwhile, IndiGo on Monday launched flight operations from the newly inaugurated Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, becoming the first airline to begin services from the National Capital Region’s newest aviation hub. The airline’s first incoming flight landed from Lucknow on Monday morning, followed shortly by the inaugural departure from NIA to Bengaluru.
