Dhurandhar crosses ₹1,000 crore worldwide in 22 days, sets new benchmarks for Bollywood

Aditya Dhar’s spy action thriller Dhurandhar has crossed the ₹1,000 crore mark at the global box office, becoming the first release of 2025 and the ninth Indian film overall to enter the coveted club. Led by Ranveer Singh, the film reached the milestone in just 22 days, making it the second fastest Bollywood film to do so.

The achievement stands out for more than just the numbers. Dhurandhar is an adult-rated film, a category often seen as limiting in terms of audience reach. Yet the film has maintained a strong run, backed by word of mouth, repeat viewership, and steady occupancy levels across theatres. Its performance challenges long-held assumptions around how far adult-rated Hindi films can travel at the box office.

In India, Dhurandhar has emerged as the highest-grossing Bollywood film, while overseas markets have played a decisive role in pushing it past the ₹1,000 crore mark. North America, in particular, has delivered standout numbers, setting new benchmarks for a Bollywood spy thriller in the region.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film collected ₹15 crore on day 22, taking its India box office total to ₹648.5 crore. The overseas contribution has continued to remain strong, helping the film sustain momentum well into its fourth week.

The ₹1,000 crore milestone was first achieved by SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in 2017, which went on to collect ₹1,788.06 crore worldwide. Aamir Khan and Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal later set an even higher benchmark, becoming the only Indian film so far to cross ₹2,000 crore globally, a record it still holds.

Having already surpassed the lifetime box office collections of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and the Rajkummar Rao–Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2, Dhurandhar is now closing in on Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which earned around ₹1,055 crore worldwide. Whether it overtakes that mark remains to be seen, but its place among India’s biggest box office successes is already secured.
