Older stores record faster growth

Commenting on DMart’s brick-and-mortar business, Managing Director and CEO Anshul Asawa said stores that were at least two years old recorded 9.5% growth in Q2 FY27, compared with 6.8% in the year-ago quarter.

Asawa said the company’s pricing proposition remained strong despite inflationary pressures. However, wage inflation at the entry level had led to a marginal increase in operating expenses.

The company opened 15 new stores during the quarter, taking its total store count to 518. This includes a store in Navi Mumbai that is currently closed to customers for reconstruction. Avenue Supermarts added 18 stores in the first half of FY27. As of September 30, 2026, DMart’s stores had a combined retail business area of 21.4 million square feet.
