Engineers India Ltd (EIL) reported its strongest financial performance to date in FY2025-26, with the state-owned engineering and consultancy company’s order book reaching a record ₹15,109 crore, even as it expands beyond its traditional hydrocarbon business into data centres, defence, nuclear, critical minerals and other emerging sectors.

According to chairman and managing director Atul Gupta’s address at EIL’s 61st annual general meeting, revenue from operations increased 27.1% to around ₹3,849 crore in FY26, the highest ever recorded by the company.

Profit after tax rose 37.3% to around ₹638 crore, also a record. The company’s operating margin improved to 16.22% from 14.76%, while earnings per share increased to ₹11.36 from ₹8.28. Consolidated profit stood at around ₹691 crore, up approximately 19% year-on-year.

“FY 2025–26 was a landmark year for your Company,” Gupta said, highlighting the stronger execution and operating efficiency behind the performance.

Order book crosses ₹15,000 crore

EIL secured ₹7,978 crore of new business during FY26, taking its order book to an all-time high of ₹15,109 crore as of March 31, 2026.

Consultancy accounted for ₹6,009 crore of the new business, while turnkey projects contributed ₹1,969 crore. International order inflow reached a record ₹4,929 crore, making overseas business an increasingly important growth driver for the company.

EIL’s international expansion received a boost from new assignments in Africa and the Middle East. The company secured a $360 million assignment for Dangote’s Train-2 expansion in Nigeria, along with a separate $70 million PMC and EPCM contract for a new Dangote fertiliser project.

In Saudi Arabia, EIL operationalised an office backed by a long-term in-Kingdom services agreement with Saudi Aramco. In the UAE, it received its first assignment under an ADNOC framework covering concept design, Pre-FEED and FEED services for projects with capital expenditure of more than $200 million.

EIL pushes beyond hydrocarbons

While hydrocarbons remain central to its business, EIL is increasingly diversifying into niche infrastructure and emerging sectors.

During FY26, the company completed the Reserve Bank of India’s greenfield data centre and training institute in Bhubaneswar and continued projects in nuclear energy and ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. EIL also highlighted work across defence, critical minerals, maritime infrastructure, power and biofuels as part of its broader diversification strategy.

Technology and AI are also becoming part of the company’s project execution strategy. EIL said its EngAIDesign platform is now deployed across all new projects and has delivered close to 20% optimisation in instrumentation cabling, resulting in capital-cost savings on large refinery projects. Its AI-based predictive asset-integrity monitoring platform, EngAIPredixon, is patent-pending.

The company also filed 24 new patent applications and secured 10 grants during the year, taking its active portfolio to 58 granted patents, with another 74 pending.

EIL’s board has also recommended a final dividend of ₹2.50 per share, taking the total dividend for FY26 to ₹5 per share, including the ₹2.50 interim dividend already paid.
