Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) kicked off FY27 with double digit revenue and profit growth, driven by a sharp turnaround in its Africa business, resilient demand in India and a recovery in Indonesia, even as elevated commodity prices and geopolitical volatility weighed on margins.

The FMCG maker reported a 19% year on year increase in consolidated sales for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, supported by 9% underlying volume growth across businesses. Consolidated EBITDA grew 14%, while net profit rose 11%, with the company saying growth was broad-based across geographies despite continued input cost pressures.

The India business recorded 12% sales growth on the back of 7% underlying volume growth, while Indonesia grew 15%. The biggest contributor was the Africa, USA and Middle East business, where sales surged 47% year on year.

"Our operating environment remained challenging through much of the quarter. Input costs were elevated, particularly during the early part of the quarter, and geopolitical developments contributed to significant volatility in crude and other commodities," managing director and CEO Sudhir Sitapati said. "Despite this backdrop, our underlying volume led momentum strengthened sequentially, reflecting the resilience of our categories, the strength of our brands and, most importantly, the quality of our execution."

Africa turnaround and new categories fuel momentum

Sitapati said Africa has moved beyond a one-off recovery and is now showing structural improvements in both growth and profitability.

"Our GAUM business delivered an outstanding quarter," he said, adding that the business benefited from doubling media investments, strong demand for Hair Fashion products, expansion of air fresheners and encouraging consumer response to Good Knight incense sticks in Nigeria. The region has also improved EBITDA margins from high single digits to a consistent mid-teens level, a trend the company expects to sustain.

In India, standalone sales rose 12% to ₹2,535 crore, while EBITDA increased 10% to ₹548 crore. Home Care and Personal Care businesses grew 12% and 11%, respectively. Household insecticides, air fresheners, fabric care, hair colour and premium personal care products continued to gain market share, while Godrej Spic Toilet Cleaner was expanded nationwide following its Tamil Nadu success.

The company also announced its entry into the liquid dishwash segment through the launch of Godrej Rizz in select states. Sitapati said the ₹2,500 crore to ₹3,000 crore category is growing in strong double digits as consumers increasingly shift from traditional bars to liquid products.

"We are launching Godrej Rizz in select states and are confident of our ability to delight consumers with Godrej Rizz as we have done successfully with our other innovations," he said.

Indonesia also showed signs of recovery, delivering 15% sales growth and 10% underlying volume growth, led by shampoo and household insecticides. Meanwhile, the Africa, USA and Middle East business posted 17% underlying volume growth and 42% EBITDA growth, supported by aggressive expansion of its FMCG portfolio.

Looking ahead, GCPL expects commodity cost pressures to ease through the rest of the fiscal year.

"With revenue growth tracking ahead of our original expectations and input costs beginning to ease, we enter the remainder of FY27 with increased confidence. We remain firmly on track to deliver our guidance for the full year with the confidence to exceed the same in select areas," Sitapati said.
