The Procter & Gamble Company has appointed Indian-origin executive Shailesh Jejurikar as chairman of its board, effective August 1, 2026, marking a leadership transition at one of the world's largest consumer goods companies.
Jejurikar, who took over as president and chief executive officer earlier this year, will now assume the additional role of chairman. He succeeds Jon Moeller, who will step down from the Board on July 31 and retire from Procter & Gamble on August 14, bringing to a close a 38-year career with the company.
Leadership transition at P&G
Announcing the appointment, Jejurikar paid tribute to his predecessor, crediting Moeller with shaping the company's long-term strategy and growth.
"I want to thank Jon for his many years of tireless and steady leadership at P&G, having served in key roles including executive chairman, chief executive officer, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer throughout his 38 years of dedicated service to the company," Jejurikar said.
"Jon's strategic vision has been instrumental in shaping the company P&G is today, and we have benefited from his unwavering courage and his profound care for this institution and its people," he added.
Nearly four decades at P&G
Jejurikar joined Procter & Gamble in 1989 and has spent more than 35 years with the consumer goods giant. He has been a member of the company's global leadership team since 2014, holding senior leadership positions across multiple business categories, regions and functions.
Over the course of his career, he has led several of P&G's core businesses, including its global Fabric Care and Home Care portfolios, while overseeing operations across North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America. The company said he also played a key role in developing its growth strategy and strengthening capabilities across the supply chain, information technology and global business services.
The appointment places Jejurikar at the helm of both the board and executive management as P&G continues to navigate evolving consumer demand and an increasingly competitive global consumer goods market.
P&G, whose portfolio includes brands such as Pampers, Gillette, Tide, Ariel, Pantene, Head & Shoulders, Oral-B, Olay and Vicks, operates in approximately 70 countries and is among the world's largest fast-moving consumer goods companies.
Shailesh Jejurikar's elevation also makes him one of the few Indian-origin executives to simultaneously hold the roles of chairman and CEO at a global blue-chip multinational. He is also the brother of Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector) at Mahindra & Mahindra.
