Leaders across party lines hail Operation Sindoor as a bold and measured strike against terror camps

In the wake of Operation Sindoor, national leaders across the political spectrum have lauded the Indian Armed Forces for executing a precise and strategic mission against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

Leaders from the opposition have extended support and congratulated the forces. Leader of opposition of Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Indian National Congress (INC) party president Mallikarjun Kharge praised the armed forces for the success of the operation.

“India has an unflinching National Policy against all forms of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and PoK. We are extremely proud of our Indian Armed Forces who have stuck terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. We applaud their resolute resolve and courage. Since the day of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, the Indian National Congress has categorically stood with the Armed Forces and the Government to take any decisive action against cross border terror. National Unity and solidarity is the need of the hour and the Indian National Congress stands with our Armed Forces. Our leaders have shown the path in past, and National Interest is supreme for us,” Kharge said in a post on X.

INC MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also expressed pride in the Indian Armed Forces for their courageous action. “Our brave soldiers protect our freedom and integrity. May God protect them and give them immense courage to face challenges with patience and bravery,” she added.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also posted in support of the armed forces, while YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also said that during such times, “such inevitable actions reflect the nation’s unwavering strength in safeguarding its sovereignty and protecting its citizens.”

Telangana CM echoed the sentiment, saying “as an Indian citizen first, standing strongly with our armed forces. The strikes against terror factories in Pakistan & PoK make us proud. Let us make this a moment for national solidarity and unity.”

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah commended the military’s extraordinary courage and added, “the brutal attack in Pahalgam was not just on innocent lives, it was an assault on the dreams and spirit of India. Every effort of our brave soldiers is a pledge to bring justice to the victims, their families, and to every Indian who believes in peace and humanity. Karnataka joins the nation in expressing unwavering solidarity with our forces. We are proud of your valour, sacrifice, and unflinching commitment to protect our sovereignty. Terror has no place in our land. India will respond with strength and unity.”

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin stated, “Tamil Nadu stands with the Indian Army against terrorism. With our Army, for our nation. Tamil Nadu stands resolute.”

Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor described the strikes as “a set of calibrated, calculated, precise strikes against terror targets.”

“Exactly what I had advocated last week: hit hard, hit smart. I applaud the government and stand solidly with our armed forces. At the same time, we have behaved in a manner that would not justify further expansion of the conflict. We have made our point and acted in self-defence. Time for all concerned to act wisely to prevent uncontrolled escalation,” he added in his post.

A detailed briefing has recently concluded with foreign secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. A press release issued by the Ministry of Defence at 1:44 AM confirmed the launch of Operation Sindoor. According to the statement, the Indian Armed Forces targeted nine sites associated with terrorist operations, without striking any Pakistani military installations. The operation was described as “focused, measured and non-escalatory.” These actions follow the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 25 Indians and one Nepali national were killed.
