Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said its hydrocarbon arm has signed an ultra-mega contract worth more than ₹15,000 crore for a gas compression facilities project in the Middle East, adding to a string of large international orders secured by the engineering major in August.

L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore (LTEH Onshore) signed the contract against a letter of award issued in FY26. Under the company’s order classification, contracts valued above ₹15,000 crore qualify as ultra-mega orders. The latest win follows ultra-mega orders announced by L&T earlier this month, including projects in the Middle East.

Project to process sour gas

The contract covers engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of new onshore gas compression facilities. The scope includes gas inlet facilities, compression systems, condensate and produced-water handling systems, propane refrigeration systems and associated utilities.

The facilities will be designed to process sour gas, which contains hydrogen sulphide and requires specialised handling and processing infrastructure. L&T said the installations will be developed in accordance with applicable client standards, codes and project requirements.

To support the power requirements of the compression plants, L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business will execute two 230 kV extra-high-voltage substations, giving the project an integrated hydrocarbon and power-infrastructure component.

L&T steps up Middle East order momentum

E.S. Sathyanarayanan, Senior Vice President and Head of L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore, said the contract would add gas compression capacity and utility infrastructure while drawing on the company’s experience in complex hydrocarbon projects.

“The contract marks the start of a strategically important project that will add significant gas compression capacity and utility infrastructure. The project draws on our extensive experience in executing large and complex hydrocarbon facilities and reinforces our capability to deliver integrated solutions for challenging sour gas applications,” he said.

The latest order comes amid a strong run of international project wins for L&T’s energy businesses. On August 4, the company announced an ultra-mega order from ADNOC Offshore, while on August 17 it secured another ultra-mega order for a strategic offshore development project in the Middle East.

L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore executes lump-sum turnkey projects across the upstream, midstream and downstream hydrocarbon segments. Its portfolio includes refinery expansions, petrochemical complexes, gas processing plants, fertiliser plants, LNG terminals and cross-country pipelines.
