Mankind Pharma Ltd. has completed a multi-year transformation of its global supply chain and strategic procurement operations in collaboration with Accenture, aiming to improve medicine access, strengthen supply reliability, and enable scalable growth.

The integrated initiative embeds digitally enabled operating models powered by advanced analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) across the company’s procurement, manufacturing, and distribution networks. The overhaul is designed to help the drugmaker manage demand volatility, supply disruptions and regulatory complexities across more than 25 international markets.

Integrated planning platform for real-time decision-making framework

As part of the transformation, Mankind Pharma introduced an integrated planning platform linking demand forecasting, manufacturing, inventory, and distribution within a near real-time decision-making framework. The AI-augmented system has improved forecast accuracy, enhanced cross-functional coordination and accelerated planning and execution processes. The transformation underscores Mankind Pharma’s focus on operational excellence and long-term resilience as it continues to expand in India and global markets.

Makind Pharma undertook an 18-month revamp of strategic sourcing

In parallel, the company undertook an 18-month revamp of its strategic sourcing and procurement functions. The initiative standardised processes, automated routine tasks and deployed analytics-led decision tools to strengthen governance, supplier collaboration and cost discipline.

Changes improved coordination between commercial and manufacturing: Mankind

The impact has been measurable. The customised planning and execution platform, now deployed across 30 manufacturing facilities and over 50 distribution centres, has reduced drug stock-outs by 75% and optimised inventory levels by up to 20% across its global network. The company said the changes have improved coordination between commercial, manufacturing, and supply teams while maintaining compliance and quality standards.

Arjun Juneja, Chief Operating Officer of Mankind Pharma, said the company has reimagined its traditional value chain into a “life chain” built to serve patients. “By integrating demand, procurement, manufacturing and execution through advanced analytics and AI-led insights, we have strengthened our ability to anticipate demand and respond with speed and precision,” he said.

Jignesh Vora, Managing Director and Lead – Life Sciences at Accenture in India, said the collaboration helped build a more predictive and resilient supply chain ecosystem, enabling better decision-making and supporting sustainable growth in a regulated environment.
