Online travel aggregator Ixigo has reported a consolidated net profit of ₹18.9 crore in the first quarter of FY26, an increase of 27% from ₹14.9 crore in the year-ago quarter. On a sequential basis, profit rose 13% from ₹16.8 crore. Meanwhile, an increase in its topline resulted in its strongest quarterly performance yet, kicking off FY26 with a 73% year-on-year jump in revenue to ₹314.5 crore and a 76% rise in profit before tax and exceptional items to ₹28.7 crore in the April-June quarter.

This comes on the back of a sharp uptick in gross transaction value (GTV), which hit ₹4,644.7 crore in Q1—up 55% over the same period last year—driven by robust growth in flights and bus bookings, the company noted.

Flight and bus segments posted an impressive 81% YoY increase in GTV, while train GTV saw a 30% jump. Ixigo’s EBITDA rose 69% year-on-year to ₹32.5 crore, with adjusted EBITDA up 54% at ₹31.4 crore, underscoring margin improvements across its operations.

“We continue to see rapid growth and have hit new all-time highs,” said co-founders Rajnish Kumar and Aloke Bajpai. “Our playbook—rooted in customer focus, cross-sell and up-sell capabilities, tech-driven efficiencies, and rising brand salience—is delivering across verticals.”

CFO Saurabh Devendra Singh called it “another strong quarter,” adding that the 76% increase in pre-tax profit (before exceptional items) reflects “disciplined execution” and a “resilient operating model.”

Young, solo travellers driving volume

Interestingly, much of the growth in Ixigo’s train and bus verticals is being fuelled by Gen Z and solo women travellers. Train bookings by users aged 18-30 grew 45% YoY in Q1, while bus bookings from this cohort jumped 56%. Cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Visakhapatnam, Indore, and Nagpur led this surge.

Solo female travellers emerged as another strong growth engine—train bookings by this segment grew 123% YoY, and they now account for 27% of all solo bus bookings.

With over 54 crore annual active users as of FY25, the company says it remains focused on India’s next billion users—a segment that has shown increasing comfort with booking travel online.
