Peak XV Partners has sold a 1.46% stake in Groww’s parent company Billionbrains Garage Ventures for ₹1,756 crore through a bulk deal on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), trimming its holding in the stockbroker amid a series of stake sales by early investors this year.

Peak XV Partners Investments VI-1, an affiliate of the venture capital firm, offloaded 9,17,14,208 shares, representing a 1.46% stake in the Bengaluru-based trading platform. The transaction was executed on Wednesday at an average price of ₹191.49 per share, taking the aggregate deal value to ₹1,756.23 crore.

Peak XV remains largest public shareholder

Following the transaction, Peak XV Partners’ stake in Billionbrains Garage Ventures fell to 14.22% from 15.68%. Despite the reduction, the venture capital firm and its affiliates continue to be the largest public shareholder in Groww.

The buyers of the shares could not be identified from NSE data. On Thursday, shares of Billionbrains Garage Ventures rose marginally to trade at ₹190.14 apiece on the NSE.

The latest transaction adds to a string of stake sales by early investors in Groww during 2026, reflecting continued monetisation by existing shareholders following the company’s strong operating and financial performance.

Y Combinator, Friale also sell stakes

In August, startup accelerator Y Combinator sold nearly a 1.2% stake in Groww for ₹1,435 crore. Earlier, in June, Friale offloaded more than 1.13 crore shares for around ₹210 crore.

In May, Peak XV Partners, Ribbit Capital and Y Combinator together sold a 4.71% stake in Billionbrains Garage Ventures for ₹5,326 crore. The latest Peak XV transaction therefore marks another significant reduction in its ownership, although the investor continues to retain a substantial holding in the company.

Repeated stake sales by early backers have also increased the proportion of shares available in the public market, while giving investors an opportunity to monetise holdings built during Groww’s earlier stages of growth.

Groww reports sharp profit, revenue growth

The latest stake sale comes against the backdrop of strong financial performance by Billionbrains Garage Ventures. In July, the company reported a 94% year-on-year increase in net profit to ₹735 crore for the June 2026 quarter.

The stockbroker had reported a net profit of ₹378 crore in the year-ago period, according to a regulatory filing.

Groww, which is the country’s largest broking firm by active investors, also reported a 66% increase in consolidated revenue from operations to ₹1,501 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with ₹904 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier.

The latest financial performance indicates continued growth in Groww’s core broking business even as early institutional and venture capital investors have stepped up stake sales in the company.
