In the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar and Paisabazaar, has announced the creation of a dedicated foundation aimed at supporting the Indian families affected by the violence. The move follows an internal discussion led by co-founder and executive vice chairman Alok Bansal, who shared a message expressing grief, anger and a sense of collective responsibility.

“The overwhelming feeling is a mix of helplessness and anger,” Bansal wrote in a post on social media platform, LinkedIn. “What has happened is reprehensible and the suffering is unimaginable.”

The Pahalgam attack, which has sent shockwaves across the country, prompted Policybazaar’s leadership to initiate a plan of action beyond just statements of solidarity. Bansal said that many in the organisation, like most Indians, come from middle-class families and understand the emotional and financial turmoil such violence brings.

Following discussions with its board, the Gurugram-headquartered digital insurance marketplace has decided to launch a foundation with the singular objective: “Kuch to karna hai” – a call to act rather than remain passive.

As part of this initiative, the company has committed to offering employment opportunities to a family member of each impacted household, either at Policybazaar or its sister platform Paisabazaar, in any of their offices across India. Additionally, the company has pledged to sponsor the education of children from these families.

“It is a very small gesture towards creating a social security cover for these families,” Bansal said. He further added that the initiative extends support to families of civilians, police personnel, paramilitary, and armed forces impacted by the attack.

The company will reach out to the local administration to connect with the families, but has also invited individuals who may have information about them to contact Policybazaar through a dedicated email ID – PBfoundation@policybazaar.com.

The executive vice chairman also emphasised on the emotional toll the attack has taken on the Policybazaar team. "Everyone I know has been disturbed since the Pahalgam terrorist attack news was reported. For us at Policybazaar, this deliberate brutality has shaken us to the core."

Policybazaar’s foundation is an effort to build institutional support mechanisms for victims’ families, particularly those that may not have access to steady financial assistance.

“We sure hope that no one has to go through this pain ever, but we will try our best to be always available to support every Indian family,” Bansal said in the post.
