The company’s operating EBITDA, including the share of joint ventures and associates, rose 37% to ₹785 crore, while consolidated operating profit before interest and tax increased 33% to ₹653 crore, according to its investor presentation.

Trent chairman Noel N Tata said the company’s brands had seen strong consumer traction despite an inflationary environment.

“Our brands experienced solid traction during the quarter. It was encouraging to witness a more robust consumer sentiment despite the relatively inflationary backdrop,” Tata said in the company’s press release.

He added that the company was expanding its presence across markets, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations. “The compelling reception we are witnessing gives us the conviction to double down into more hinterlands,” he said.

Store expansion continues

Trent opened 10 Westside stores and 19 Zudio stores during the quarter, while consolidating two Zudio stores. The company said it opened its 1,000th Zudio store during the period.

As of September 30, its portfolio comprised 311 Westside stores, 999 Zudio stores, including seven in the UAE, and 32 stores across other lifestyle concepts. Its fashion retail network spanned 339 cities, including three in the UAE, with a footprint of more than 18.5 million square feet.

Like-for-like growth across its fashion portfolio was in the mid-single digits during the quarter. Emerging categories, including beauty and personal care, innerwear and footwear, contributed more than 21% of revenue.

Westside’s online business, along with its offering on the Tata Neu platform, continued to grow. Online revenue increased 20% in the first half of FY27 and contributed more than 6% of Westside’s revenue.

Trent’s Star food and grocery business recorded revenue growth of more than 20% during the quarter. The company added one store, taking its total network to 87 stores across 13 cities.

Tata said Star’s own brands and products were contributing more than 74% of its revenue, adding that the business’s recent performance reinforced the company’s confidence in its model and growth potential.

“The food and grocery opportunity is significant, and the Star model is differentiated,” he said.

Shares of Trent Ltd ended 1.79% lower at ₹2,861.70 apiece on the NSE on Thursday. The stock has fallen more than 10% over the past year, broadly tracking the benchmark Nifty 50, which has declined nearly 12% over the same period.
