The Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower at the upcoming Noida international airport, Jewar is likely to be handed over to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) by March 2024.

Construction of the first phase of the airport is going on in full swing and the implementing agencies are planning to complete phase one comprising one terminal and one runway, with capacity to handle 12 million passengers by the end of next year.

International airport in jewar – about 60 kms from Noida -- is a Greenfield airport and is being constructed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a 100% subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, in partnership with government of Uttar Pradesh and central government. The airport is expected to enhance connectivity to and from Delhi NCR, Noida and Western UP. Tata projects is the contractor in the project.

A source close to the development told Fortune India, “The ATC tower will be handed over to the AAI between January and March next year. Once transferred, the AAI will install the navigation system in the ATC.”

The first phase entailing an investment of ₹5700 crore with one runway, and one terminal with the capacity to handle traffic of 12 million passengers annually, will be operational by the end of 2024. After the completion of the fourth phase, the airport will have the capacity to manage 70 million passengers per year.
