With metros and monorails becoming popular as mass transit systems in India, global giants are setting up factories here. Bombardier’s Rs 200 crore plant in Savli, Gujarat, already supplies coaches to the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. (DMRC) as well as Adelaide, Australia. It rolls out at least one coach each day to meet orders worth Rs 4,850 crore. Alstom’s factory near Chennai is also in the works.
