The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has officially empanelled Informatic Computech Pvt. Ltd. (ICPL) as a digital connectivity rating agency (DCRA) for PAN-India operations. This authorisation allows ICPL to conduct independent assessments of digital readiness across residential, commercial, and public infrastructure projects.

New standard for digital infrastructure

The empanelment follows the introduction of the "Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity Regulations, 2024". This regulatory framework aims to ensure that modern buildings are equipped with robust, future-ready digital foundations. ICPL’s evaluations will focus on several critical technical parameters:

  • Fibre readiness: Assessing the backbone of high-speed data transmission

  • Mobile network performance: Evaluating signal strength and quality within buildings

  • In-building Wi-Fi infrastructure: Ensuring seamless wireless connectivity

  • Overall service performance: A comprehensive look at the end-user digital experience

Mandatory ratings

TRAI has also mandated that all central government buildings of public importance—including airports and railway stations—must undergo these digital connectivity ratings within one year of receiving their occupancy certification. ICPL will work closely with developers and enterprises to align these assessments with national digital priorities.

Tarun Kumar Taunk, managing director of ICPL, described the empanelment as a "significant milestone" for the organisation.

"We are grateful for the confidence reposed in us by the Authority. The company remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of technical competence, objectivity, and transparency while contributing to the advancement of reliable and future-ready digital connectivity infrastructure across India".
