Vedanta strengthens its commitment to India's tiger landscapes

Marking International Tiger Day, Vedanta Group reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding India's tiger habitats through sustained conservation partnerships with forest departments and wildlife authorities across the country. Through The Animal Care Organisation (TACO), operating under the aegis of the Anil Agarwal Foundation (AAF), the diversified natural resources company is investing in habitat restoration, surveillance infrastructure, frontline forest protection and conservation awareness across some of India's most significant tiger reserves.

Founded by Priya Agarwal Hebbar, non-executive director, Vedanta Ltd., TACO, together with the Youth Organisation in Defence of Animals (YODA), is guided by a One Health philosophy that recognises the intrinsic connection between human well-being, animal welfare and healthy ecosystems. Beyond wildlife conservation, TACO operates integrated animal welfare facilities in Faridabad and Gurugram (Haryana), Goa and Varanasi, providing animal rescue, medical care, vaccination and sterilisation services. The organisation has also recently signed an MoU with the Government of NCT of Delhi to operate an Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre, further strengthening urban animal welfare infrastructure.Together, these initiatives contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, advancing SDG 15 (Life on Land) through biodiversity conservation while supporting SDG 13 (Climate Action) through ecosystem restoration and habitat protection.

The announcement is accompanied by a striking collection of wildlife photographs captured by Priya Agarwal Hebbar, an avid wildlife photographer whose images, taken across India's tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries, celebrate the country's extraordinary biodiversity. The photographs reflect her longstanding commitment to conservation and offer an intimate glimpse into the landscapes that continue to shelter one of India's most iconic species.

Across India's protected forests, Vedanta and TACO continue to strengthen conservation efforts through targeted interventions. At Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, TACO will establish the Agnivesh Agarwal Nature Interpretation Centre to encourage responsible tourism and deepen environmental awareness. At Ranthambore National Park, the company has provided 15 surveillance vehicles to enhance wildlife monitoring and patrolling, while in Assam's Jorhat Forest Division it has equipped forest authorities with six surveillance vehicles and specialised monitoring equipment to reinforce forest protection.

At Kaziranga National Park, TACO is constructing 32 residential units for frontline forest personnel (Van Durgas) while also developing a state-of-the-art surveillance centre to improve wildlife monitoring and habitat security. Meanwhile, at Ramgarh Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, Vedanta has established five anti-poaching camps and deployed two surveillance vehicles to support frontline protection and anti-poaching operations.

Collectively, these initiatives are helping strengthen conservation infrastructure, improve wildlife surveillance, protect critical habitats and reinforce long-term efforts to preserve India's tiger landscapes.
