Budget 2025: Infra underspending to hamper GDP growth, says Deloitte’s Bhavik Damodar

Bhavik Damodar, Partner, Deloitte India said the government must spend on sectors like highways, railways, airports and ports in the upcoming budget as the government may underachieve its ₹11.11 lakh crore infrastructure spending target for the current financial year by 10% due to elections and land acquisition issues. Under spending on infrastructure will affect GDP growth, Damodar said, adding that the renewable energy plans need to be supplemented by T&D investments.
