Porsche Macan: The all-rounder

The Porsche Macan, the German carmaker’s latest launch in India, is a compact SUV. But the wheel that greets you as you slip into the driver’s seat is from Porsche’s legendary 911 sports cars. That sets the tone for the car. You can drive it to work, you can take off in it on weekends to the hills and you can burn rubber (0-100 kmph in 6.7 sec) in a proper race circuit. The Macan is versatile, but “it never allows you to forget that it’s a true sports car at heart”, says Pavan Shetty, director, Porsche India.

The Macan was Porsche’s best-selling model in 2018 globally. The 2019 version, built on the Audi Q5 platform, has been given a facelift: four-point LED headlamps, a cooler grille, and customisable 21-inch alloy wheels. The infotainment system with a 10.9-inch screen is bigger and better.

Priced at ₹69.98 lakh, the Macan is Porsche’s most affordable model. The Macan S, a stronger, faster version, is priced at Rs 85.03 lakh. With such feature-packed offerings at competitive prices in India’s midsize luxury car segment, this is just the beginning of the road for the Macan.
